A plan is made for Hew to walk into Dunbar & Associates to talk with Dunbar re: occurrences at Theresa’s (and to snoop about the place).

 

Erich and Robert will keep watch outside and join him in 45 minutes if no word.

 

Hew rejoins group to come back later (around 1700).

 

Robert notices same SOE operative from previous session that Hew failed to tail in black sedan watching the group as we hatch our plans for Dunbar.  Black sedan then drives away.

 

Group’s plan is for Robert and Erich to tail Dunbar once he leaves the office.

 

Hew meets with Dunbar and tells the story of Theresa’s house fire etc. (the whole unexpurgated version - to gauge the reaction).

 

Dunbar explains a friend of his was killed (set on fire?) in his home recently.

After Hew asks Dunbar if he knows why bloke in the hospital would have asked if the group worked for Dunbar - Dunbar mentions “She wouldn’t…” then all hell breaks loose with another fiery orb smashing through the room - takes out Dunbar then flies out the window again.

 

Hew makes it out the back door with a cunning plan to keep the door unlocked using his tie to come back later.  Group heads to N to debrief him and perhaps get backup.

 

As we enter N’s office a tall, slender man in starched shirt, top hat, monocle and bushy mustache leave.

 

Debrief for N - not very fruitful, N reticent to help, although gives requisition for sidearms and a vehicle.  Leads - Chamberlain, Dunbar and Theresa/”Priestess”.

 

Group heads back to Dunbar’s office, Hew devises a “cunning plan” to distract the coppers guarding the front entrance to Dunbar’s office.  Hew and Erich split up and fire their sidearms simultaneously to draw the popo away whilst Robert breaks in.

After the difficulties encountered in Vlissingen, and given the advance of War throughout Europe, our Investigators are volun-told to join the newly formed Special Operations Executive (SOE). Will our largely brainy group really end up as front line commandos, or does N have other plans for them?

 

Time will tell, but first, we need to train them for the rigors of irregular warfare!
